Honeydue and DreamDuo both help couples with money, but they look at it from opposite ends.
Honeydue connects to your bank and shows you what you've spent. DreamDuo doesn't touch your bank at all. It tracks what you're working toward, like a deposit, a trip or an emergency fund, plus goals that have nothing to do with money.
So this is less a contest and more a question of which problem you have. Plenty of couples would be better off using both.
Disclosure: we make DreamDuo. Prices are in US dollars from US App Store listings checked on October 13, 2026. Offers, taxes and Android or regional prices can differ; the checkout price is the one that applies. This is a comparison of published features, not a hands-on test of every app. “Not listed” means we did not find the feature in the sources below.

What Honeydue does well
Honeydue brings linked account balances and transactions into one view. You each choose what the other can see, so sharing a joint account does not have to mean sharing every personal account. Its website advertises support in the US, Canada, UK, Spain and France; availability depends on your bank and country.
The best feature is small. You can comment or leave an emoji on a single charge. That sounds minor until you remember the alternative, which is screenshotting a transaction and texting it to your partner, and hoping it doesn't read as an accusation.
It also offers bill reminders and spending categories. Honeydue describes the app as free, with optional recurring tips of $1 to $10 in its help centre. We did not verify its current advertising model.
Where DreamDuo is different
DreamDuo starts from the goal instead of the transaction.
You set up what you're saving for, say $12,000 for a house deposit over twelve months, and you both add to it. The app shows whether you're ahead or behind, sends alerts as you hit milestones, and keeps a running total of everything you've saved together.
Two features make saving feel less like homework:
- Secret contributions. Put money toward a goal without your partner seeing, then reveal it on a date or at a milestone.
- Locked messages. Write a note that only opens when you hit 25, 50, 75 or 100 percent.
And it isn't only about money. The same app handles checklists (a wedding, a move), habits (walking together four times a week) and time-based goals.
Because DreamDuo does not connect to your bank, you enter progress yourself. Honeydue can import balances and transactions from supported accounts. That is different from automatically tracking contributions toward a named savings goal, which we did not find documented.
Which one should you pick?
Pick Honeydue if you need a clearer picture of spending. You've merged some finances, you've lost track of where the money goes, and you want everything in one view.
Pick DreamDuo if you need a shared plan for the future. You agree on what you want to save for, but the plan keeps slipping, or one of you ends up being the only person keeping track.
Or use both. Honeydue watches the money going out, and DreamDuo keeps you focused on what it's for. They don't overlap much, and Honeydue costs nothing.
